Hews Media Group would like to urge all of our readers to attend a local Memorial Day Service on Monday here in the greater South East Los Angeles County.  Below are specific details about the events.

CERRITOS

The City of Cerritos invites the community to attend a Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 27 at 10 a.m. near the Cerritos Veterans Memorial in the Cerritos Civic Center.
The Memorial Day Ceremony will begin with prelude music performed by the Cerritos College Concert Band at 9:45 a.m. The ceremony will include a presentation of colors; comments by the City Council; a battle cross ceremony in remembrance of Lance Corporals Stevens and Terwiske; laying of wreaths and a moment of silence. Light refreshments will be served following the ceremony.

NORWALK

rial Day Ceremony at 11:00 a.m., City Hall Freedom Square. 12700 Norwalk Blvd. Coordinated by the City of Norwalk and the Norwalk American Legion Post #359, the event will include a student color guard, performances by the Norwalk All-City Youth Band, and a keynote address by James Crimson, US Navy (retired) and a veteran of WWII.
Complimentary refreshments will be served, plenty of free parking is available, and guests can also purchase tickets to attend an optional luncheon afterward at the local American Legion Hall.

LA PALMA
La Palma’s Memorial Day Ceremony will be at 9:15 a.m. Each year, the City of La Palma honors those who have served in the military either at home or abroad, especially those who sacrificed their lives so that those who remain may continue to live in freedom. The City’s Community Activities and Beautification Committee would like to recognize all veterans for their service and their willingness to defend the American way of life. Please join the City on Monday, May 27, at 9:15 a.m. in front of La Palma City Hall, 7822 Walker Street, as the City honors and recognizes the sacrifices of those fighting for liberty throughout the world.

LA MIRADA
La Mirada Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #9148 will host a Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 30 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Olive Lawn Memorial Park in La Mirada. The service will include a Memorial Day address by the La Mirada VFW, patriotic songs, a special tribute to fallen soldiers, and placing of memorial flowers by community organizations, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Ladies’ Auxiliary. Seating is limited so feel free to bring lawn chairs.
