A power outage on Monday night resulted in nearly 400 Southern California Edison customers on the west side of Cerritos in the dark, including businesses at world famous Cerritos Auto Square and heavily used Los Cerritos Center.

The outage took place at around 6:50 p.m. near 183rd Street and Studebaker Road due to equipment problems, a Southern California Edison spokesperson confirmed.

The power was restore at around 10 p.m., it was reported.

    Tuesday, April 30, 2013.

Week or more ago, Shadow Park HOA district had a power outage during the early evening hr. No street lights, nor traffic controls.

Still waiting for city of Cer staff to complete the requested Magnolia Power Plant Report, which was requested by council. I have heard from other cities, their is a surplus of power being produced by said power plant, which is not being used, so is being thrown away daily. Power from the Plant can not be saved or harvested, so if there is a surplus, no one benefits, except the trash.

If this is true, with modern technology, to bad the general SCE power consumers could not benefit and use for personal consumption. Cer residents should remember, if times get tough for the city, the city could impose a street light tax in order to power our lights. Former councilperson Crawley left this barn-door open for further discussion.

BTW: Updates on Crawley medical status?

It was weird at the Cerritos Center last night, as Macy’s, Forever 21 and all of the interior shops had power, but all of the perimeter shops were dark and shut down…

Can we have a comment from the Magnolia Power Plant and City Manager?

Seems we THE primary purpose to partner in the power plant was to avoid this type of situation.

We really need an answer as to why if Edison power went out Magnolia power wasn’t used.
