Giving Thanks: UNITEDHEALTHCARE dishes out $10K to feed local families for holidays

In a gracious jesture, UnitedHealthcare has donated $10,000 to help provide nutritious food for Southern California individuals and families in need during the upcoming holiday season.

The funds will support food and meal programs at Union Rescue Mission in Los Angeles, Share Our Selves in Orange County and Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County.

“Support from companies like UnitedHealthcare is crucial for meeting the needs of local families this holiday season and beyond,” said Andy Bales, CEO, Union Rescue Mission. “We are grateful for this support because we continue to see great need from children and families who rely on our services.”

“UnitedHealthcare’s support will go far in providing nutritious meals to Orange County residents who continue to struggle financially, especially during this holiday season,” said Nicole Suydam, CEO, Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County.

“Share Our Selves is committed to providing critical services to the most vulnerable populations in our communities, and we are thankful to have a wonderful partner in UnitedHealthcare to help further our mission,” said Karen McGlinn, executive director, Share Our Selves.

Located in downtown Los Angeles, Union Rescue Mission serves more than 2,500 meals a day and provides numerous social services for people experiencing homelessness. Share Our Selves provides comprehensive safety-net services to the homeless and low-income residents in Orange County including medical and dental care, case management, food, financial assistance for housing and transportation, utilities and other emergency needs. Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County works with more than 470 charitable organizations to help provide food to more than 240,000 people every month.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County works to eliminate hunger in Orange County.
