I-5 Freeway Traffic Delays Expected at Valley View, Rosecrans, Alondra

Early morning motorists can expect a some delays in the Norwalk, La Mirada and Cerritos area during the next few days.

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has authorized Southern California Edison (SCE) to continue crossing power lines across northbound and southbound I-5 between Valley View Avenue and Rosecrans Avenue.

Project officials told Los Cerritos Community Newpspaer that SCE will perform the work with Caltrans oversight as part of the I-5 South Corridor Improvement Projects to widen the freeway and add HOV lanes.

Look for early morning traffic breaks on northbound I-5 at Valley View Avenue and southbound I-5 at Rosecrans Avenuein La Mirada and Santa Fe Springs overnight from 12 a.m. to 4 a.m. on  Sunday, October 21, Monday, October 22,  and on Tuesday, October 23.

Motorists can expect intermittent FULL FREEWAY Closures.  California Highway Patrol will conduct three or four traffic breaks, per night, in each direction. The traffic breaks will last approximately minutes and will take place at hourly intervals.

Northbound I-5 at Valley View Avenue. With CHP direction, motorists have the option to exit at Valley View Avenue.

Southbound I-5 at Rosecrans Avenue and Southbound I-5 on-ramp at Rosecrans.  With CHP direction, motorists have the option to exit at Rosecrans Avenue.

CLOSED RAMPS:

Northbound I-5 on-ramp at Alondra Boulevard will be fully closed. The CHP will intermittently close and hold traffic at the northbound I-5 on-ramp at Valley View Ave. and at the southbound I-5 on-ramp at Rosecrans Ave.

The closures are weather-permitting and are subject to cancellation or change.
