Hawaiian Gardens present $89K for ABCUSD Summer School Program

A check for $89,000 was presented to ABC Director of Special Programs. Mike McCoy by members of the Hawaiian Gardens City Council at its meeting July 10. With him were Mayra Lozano, Principal of Furgeson Elementary School, Laurie Cordova, Principal of Hawaiian Elementary School, and Robert Castillo, Principal of Melbourne Elementary School.
Furgeson and Melbourne classes are currently in session, having begun on June 20 and will end July 30. Hawaiian Elementary School classes started June 26 and will run into July 30 Approximately 120 students are attending classes in each school.
Artesia High is holding their program co-currently with their regular program running from June 26-July 30. Approximately 750 students are enrolled with 50 from Hawaiian Gardens. Hawaiian. Feede Middle school is holding its summer school program through the month of August under a Federal School Improvement Grant.
