CERRITOS, CA –The Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (CCPA) opens the 2019-2020 Broadway Performance Partner Series with the award-winning 3-D Theatricals’ musical Once. The performance will be presented In the Round, bringing the audience closer than ever to the stage. Winner of eight Tony Awards, including for “Best Musical,” ONCE will run at the CCPA on Fri, October 11, 18, and 25 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, October 12 at 8 p.m.; Sunday, October 13, 20, and 27 at 2 p.m.; Saturday, October 19 and 26 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.; and Thursday, October 24 at 7:30 p.m.
Once the musical is adapted from the Oscar-winning movie about a heartbroken Irish guitarist who has given up on love and music until an immigrant girl inspires him to keep going. Their shared love of music draws the two together and the unexpected friendship quickly evolves into a powerful but complicated love story.
The production is directed by Kari Hayter and choreographed by Linda Love Simmons, with musical direction and conducting by David Lamoureux.The musical features a book by Enda Walsh and music and lyrics by Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová. Music is orchestrated by Martin Lowe.
For the 2019-2020 CCPA Season, 3-D Theatricals, the recipient of several Ovation awards and L.A. Drama Critics Circle Award nominations, will also present the Tony Award-winning musical Kinky Boots, the two-time Tony Award-winning musical Newsies, and The King and I.
