Arlo Guthrie Alice’s Restaurant Back by Popular Demand Tour Comes to the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts on Fri., March 15, 8:00 PM

CERRITOS, CA – America’s beloved Folk music troubadour, Arlo Guthrie marks the 50th anniversary of the iconic movie, Alice’s Restaurant, in an evening filled with his all-time hits at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (CCPA) on Friday, March 15, 8:00 PM. Purchase tickets, which start from $60, at the CCPA Ticket Office, cerritoscenter.com, or by calling (562) 916-8500.

The New York Times called ARLO GUTHRIE “a brash and brilliant storyteller who combined his father’s [Woodie Guthrie’s] concern for social justice with Bob Dylan’s cheek.” The legend performs an evening of his timeless hits, including City of New Orleans and Alice’s Restaurant Massacree, which was inducted into the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress for its cultural and historic importance to the American soundscape.

In 1965, a teenaged Guthrie was arrested for littering and, as a result, was deemed “not moral enough to join the army.” Guthrie attained international attention at age 19 by recounting the true events on the album Alice’s Restaurant in 1967. The Alice’s Restaurant Massacree has become an anti-establishment anthem and an essential part of the Thanksgiving holiday season, still broadcast widely on terrestrial, internet, and satellite radio. Alice’s Restaurant achieved Platinum status and was made into a movie in 1969. It starred Guthrie as himself and was directed by Arthur Penn, who earned a “Best Director” Oscar nomination.
