What to do in Hawaiian Gardens

line

Staff Report

Hawaiian Gardens City, part of a greater Los Angeles, in Southern California is a great place for a visit all year round. The Californian lifestyle is barely interrupted by a near consistent sunshine, twelve months of the year. In terms of entertainment, the City of Angels doesn’t disappoint and if you’re looking for some tips on things to do while you’re in town, you are in luck. Here are five of the top things to do while in Hawaiian Gardens.

Long Beach Towne Center

More than just another shopping mall, the Long Beach Towne Center, located just near Hawaiian Gardens, is worth a visit even if you are not planning to spend a penny (don’t worry, you will!). it’s the best place by far to shop locally. There are lots of cool bars and restaurants, a movie theatre and regular live events meaning that there is always something entertaining to be done. There’s a performing stage, a giant video wall, lush fountains, a fireplace lounge area and a kid’s play area, that all come together to create the Promenade that has been designed as a gathering place for guests to eat, drink, shop, and be entertained. The performance stage, which locals can use, hosts free musical events and concerts every Saturday night. Great fun locally.

Staples Center

Home of the LA Lakers Basketball team, no visit to LA would be complete without taking in a Lakers game at the Staples. In fact, four professional sports franchises call the center home. As well as the NBA’s Lakers, the Los Angeles Clippers, the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings and the WNBA’s Los Angeles Spark all play their home games here. Away from sport, it regularly hosts live events from singers, bands and comedians but it is sport that really keeps the arena thriving. Tickets sell out quick due to demand far outweighing supply which, with only 21,000 seating capacity, isn’t surprising but, if you get do manage to get a chance to go, then you really should take it.

Knotts Berry Farm

Billing itself as America’s first them park, Knotts Berry Farm is a great day out for the whole family, catering to every type of visitor. Knotts strikes a good balance that allows a family with both younger and older kids to have a great day out in the California sunshine. Whether you are looking for extreme roller coasters, kiddie rides or all-in family rides, we promise you’ll find what you’re looking for here. The park has a neat tie in mascot deal with Snoopy and The Peanuts, which provides a fun, friendly and furry faced theme for the kids. White knuckle rides include The Xcelerator, The Silver Bullet, The GhostRider or the Sierra Sidewinder. Plus, there’s the Boomerang and Montezuma’s Revenge and La Revolucion thrown in for good measure. For the inbetweeners, there are mid-size rides like the Surfside Gliders, Waveswinger and Wipeout among others before taking the youngest members of your tribe to Camp Snoopy where they will be thoroughly entertained. Rest assured, Knotts Berry Farm is a great day out, and, in a city with lots of theme park options, the closest to Hawaiian Gardens.

Whale Watching

Few sights in life are as welcome as that of wild Whales on their migration north which is why one of the best things you can do with your time in Hawaiian Gardens is to take a trip form Huntingdon or Long beach and head out into the Pacific to catch these wild water mammals up close and very personal. A lot of the trip providers in the area offer guaranteed sightings to the point that, if you don’t see a whale while you are out in the boat the first time around, then they will take you out again for a second trip, for free. Species that pass by America’s West Coast at various times of the year include; Gray Whales, Humpback Whales, Killer Whales, Minke Whales, Fin Whales, Baird’s Beaked Whales and the biggest creature on earth, the Blue Whale.

Following the largest casino construction project Los Angeles has seen in over 30 years, the Gardens Casino has recently undergone an ambitious overhaul which has seen its previous 59,500-square-foot casino space, blossom into a beautiful, Vegas-esque, thoroughly modern 200,000-square-foot gaming, dining, and entertainment complex. This refurbishment has seen a near doubling of the number of table games offered. Over the years, the casino established a reputation for being a warm and inviting venue, offering only the very best and the most popular card games, such as Texas Hold’em, Omaha, Blackjack, EZ Baccarat, pai gow and Three Card Poker. The poker room offers the full range of no-limit games and daily tournaments of varying buy-ins. There are also plenty of casino gaming options online and on mobile devices like Android & iPhone.
