City News Service

A Hawthorne man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of burglary in a local neighborhood, authorities said.

Reginald Jufus Lamar Ross, 34, was arrested by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s personnel on a traffic stop as he drove in Cerritos, San Marino Police said in a written statement.

High end handbags and other property were located inside the car that did not belong to the suspect, officials said.

San Marino Police originally received a call at 11:23 a.m. about a burglary in the 2400 block of Roanoke Road.

The victim told police someone knocked on the front door for several minutes, but she did not answer.

She then saw a man wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt walk toward the backyard.

The victim, after calling a family member, officials said, locked herself in a bedroom and called 911.

The family member arrived at the scene and confronted a man in the residence who then ran out of the backdoor and fled west on Roanoke Road, officials said.

Police concluded the suspect entered the home through the rear bathroom window
