Meals On Wheels La Mirada began in April of 1975 as a way to ensure the elderly, ill, disabled, or those in recovery received nutritious food. Now, 40 years later, Meals On Wheels continues to serve the residents of La Mirada. During this time, 2,361 clients have been served, and volunteers have delivered over half a million meals. Meals On Wheels has 90 volunteers and five delivery routes.

The service provides a helping hand and a caring heart in a time of need so residents may remain self-sufficient in their homes. The Meals On Wheels motto “Service With Friendship” is embodied by caring volunteers who use their own cars and fuel in service to their clients.

“Meals On Wheels provides an amazing service, and we encourage all La Mirada residents in need to sign up,” says Community Services Supervisor Lisa Montoya. “The volunteers give family members of clients peace of mind in knowing their loved ones are being looked after each day.”

The meals are currently prepared and packaged by Lascari’s Restaurants and are available for delivery Monday through Friday. Options are available for one or two meals per day and the cost for one meal a day is $4.50 and $8 for two meals per day.

For more information, please call the Meals On Wheels office at (562) 943-0037 between 8 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
