President Barack Obama dropped into the Venice campaign headquarters of Congressional candidate Ted Lieu on Thursday night in his visit to Los Angeles.

Lieu is engaged in a hotly contested campaign for a seat in the House of Representatives with Republican Elan Carr.  The seat was previously held by longtime Rep. Henry Waxman.

Lieu sent out a photo of him and the President to his supporters after the visit.

“Guess who stopped by our Venice headquarters tonight? The President of the United States Barack Obama!,” Lieu stated in his email that was also provided to Hews Media Group-Community Newspaper and other news outlets.

“I was surprised and deeply honored to have President Obama stop by to greet our volunteers and help us call voters. Definitely the biggest milestone yet in our campaign,” Leiu said.
