A violent car accident in Norwalk has resulted in the death of a 20-year-old male who was struck by a vehicle while riding a skateboard in the area of Studebaker Road and Foster Road early at around 4:20 a.m. Saturday morning.

According to Captain Patrick Maxwell of the Norwalk Sheriff’s Station, “the suspect vehicle was traveling north bound on Studebaker Road in the number one lane when it struck the victim, a 20 year old male Hispanic, while he was riding his skateboard.”

Maxwell went on to tell Los Cerritos Community Newspaper that “the suspect vehicle continued north bound and fled the scene.”

The suspect vehicle is being described as a metallic blue Nissan (NFD) based on the debris left behind at the scene. No witnesses were located, Maxwell said.

Victim  was pronounced dead by Los Angeles County Fire Department, Engine 20 supervised by Captain Yartz at 4:41 am.   The north and south bound lanes of Studebaker Road were closed due to debris scattered in the roadway. Los Angeles County Coroner responded and took possession of the body.

The name of the victim has not been released by law enforcement officials.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Norwalk Sheriff’s Department at (562) 863-8711.

I had the privilege to be Daniels football coach when he played for La Mirada pop Warner as a young boy. He was a great athlete with tons of potential. Every so often he would need a kick in the pants, but he was one hell of a football player. Daniel was usually one of the many jokesters next to Steven Perea and Jeremy Chavez that played for me that year.
God bless Daniel, I hope you make God laugh as much as you made us!!
My prayers and thoughts go out to the family
