Toni Braxton Cancels Opener at Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts Due to a ‘Scheduling Conflict’

Courtesy Metro.co.uk

Well, the staff and officials at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts cannot be too happy.

HMG-LCCN obtained an internal memo from City Hall that indicates Tony Braxton canceled her September 7 CCPA season opener, saying she had “double booked.”

HMG-LCCN was unable to find online other Braxton concerts on September 7.

The cancellation will cost the renowned facility thousands, it is unknown if the City carries cancellation insurance.

The CCPA will now open the season with the Johnny Mathis on Friday, September 20.

The CCPA box office will be contacting all Braxton ticket holders and offering the option of a refund or a 10% discount on any future CCPA shows.

They should also offer Ms. Braxton a calendar.

  • Grand Piano says:

2002 Diana Ross cancelled opening night at the CCPA. Frank Sinatra was suffering from Dementia, could not sing very well, he died shortly afterwards. CCPA has history of poor performers. Only 9% of Cerritso attends CCPA; but $5M-$7M of the annual budget is paid for by taxes from the city. Not one yr, has the CCPA broke even or made a profit.

Heard the latest cancellation, was do to the fact the CCPA uses non union volunteers; Hurrah for Toni Braxton, city is over run by too many permanent volunteers, taking good paying jobs away from full time personnel. Stop the volunteers and interns.

City is having hard time, getting A rated talent, most of the performers are either B of C Rated. CCPA has very poor and outdated technology.
