An employee of a Jack-in-the-Box restaurant in Lakewood assaulted  with a tire iron Monday during a robbery, authorities said.

Only the drive-through window of the popular fast-food restaurant at 11501 Carson St. was open after 2 a.m. when the brain-challenged man first tried to get into the drive-through window.

Only two employees were inside the restaurant, one ran out to call 911 so the suspect assaulted the other worker and took the cash drawer and fled the restaurant on foot.
