There were 28 Part I felony crimes reported in Cerritos this past reporting period, resulting in a decrease of nine from the previous week. The following is a breakdown of crimes by category: two aggravated assaults, six residential burglaries, five commercial/other structure burglaries, two grand thefts, four vehicle thefts, and nine vehicle burglaries. Cerritos Station deputies made two felony arrests, nine misdemeanor arrests, six warrant arrests, and issued 82 citations. The Sheriff’s dispatch center also received a total of 361 calls for service.
Aggravated Assault:
18900 block of Castle Place (11/05 – Afternoon): The suspect accidentally cutoff the victims while driving home. The victims became upset and followed the suspect home. The suspect noticed he was being followed and became worried for himself and the small child in his vehicle. When the suspect pulled up to his home he exited his vehicle. When the victims pulled up next to him, he displayed a handgun he had retrieved from his vehicle. The victims fled and dialed 911. The suspect waited until deputies arrived and surrendered the weapon. The suspect was arrested.
17800 block of Valley View Avenue (11/03 – Evening): The known suspect assaulted the victim at their place of employment due to the suspect believing the victim had informed administrative staff of his marijuana use. The suspect fled in an unknown direction before deputies arrived.
Residential Burglary:
11200 block of Beach Street (11/05 – Day): The suspect(s) entered the home by prying open the rear sliding door. Cash was stolen.
11700 block of Buford Street (11/04 – Evening): The suspect attempted to enter the home. The suspect was scared away by the home owner.
10800 block of Carla Place (11/03-05 – Unknown): The suspect(s) entered the home and stole cash, a purse, and a passport. It is unknown how entry was made.
16600 block of Greenbrook Circle (11/01-03 – Unknown): The suspect(s) entered the home by cutting a hole in the fumigation tent and going through the open window. Stolen were tools and a skateboard.
19900 block of Claretta Avenue (11/01 – Evening): The suspect(s) stole a dog from the home. It is unknown how entry was made.
19700 block of Jacob Avenue (10/31-11/01 – Unknown): The suspect(s) entered the home through an unlocked bedroom window. Stolen were purses, shoes, and an electronic device.
Commercial/Other Structure Burglary:
16800 block of Sierra Vista Way (11/05-06 – Overnight): The suspect(s) stole electronic devices from a detached garage. It is unknown how entry was made.
13300 block of Artesia Boulevard (11/05 – Morning): The suspect(s) cut the lock of a storage unit and stole various tools.
12200 block of Artesia Boulevard (11/04-05 – Overnight): The suspect(s) cut the lock of a storage unit and stole various tools.
12400 block of 195th Street (10/31-11/02 – Unknown): The suspect(s) entered the location, possibly through an unlocked maintenance door. Hand tools were stolen.
Grand Theft:
239 Los Cerritos Center (10/28 – Evening): The suspect entered the store while it was open for business and stole an electronic device.
12600 block of Towne Center Drive (10/21– Afternoon): The suspect entered the store while open for business and stole several electronic devices.
Grand Theft Auto:
239 Los Cerritos Center (11/06 – Day): The suspect(s) stole a 1996 Chevrolet 1500 from the parking lot.
10900 block of Alondra Boulevard (11/05 – Afternoon): The suspect(s) stole a 1993 Nissan truck from the parking lot.
13000 block of Moore Street (10/31 – Evening): The suspect(s) stole a 1998 Honda Civic from the parking lot.
12800 block of Towne Center Drive (10/31 – Evening): The suspect(s) stole a 1993 Honda Civic from the parking lot.
Vehicle Burglary:
18100 block of Dumont Avenue (11/05 – Day): The suspect(s) entered a 2007 Nissan Sentra, parked in the parking lot, by shattering a window. Stolen was makeup and a purse.
16700 block of Westgate Avenue (11/05-06 – Overnight): The suspect(s) entered a 2014 Lexus ES300H, parked in the driveway of the residence, and stole an electronic device. It is unknown how entry was made.
16600 block of Bloomfield Avenue (11/04-05 – Unknown): The suspect(s) entered a Chevrolet Blazer, parked at the residence, by shattering a window. Stolen were clothing and an electronic device.
12700 block of Towne Center Drive (11/04 – Evening): The suspect(s) entered a 2009 Toyota Camry, parked in the parking lot, and stole a backpack and books. It is unknown how entry was made.
18800 block of Studebaker Road (11/04 – Evening): The suspect(s) entered a 1998 Toyota Camry, parked in the parking lot, by punching the door lock. It is unknown if anything was stolen.
11800 block of Del Amo Boulevard (11/03 – Evening): The suspect(s) entered a 2011 Toyota Corolla, parked in the parking lot, by shattering a window. Stolen was a purse.
13500 block of Park Street (10/31 – Morning): The suspect(s) entered a 2015 Mercedes E350, parked on the street in front of the residence, by shattering a window. Stolen was a purse.
13400 block of Darvalle Street (10/30-11/01 – Unknown): The suspect(s) entered a 2005 Kia Sorrento, parked in the driveway of the residence. It is unknown how entry was made and nothing was stolen.
12700 block of Center Court Drive (10/30 – Evening): The suspect(s) entered a 2007 Nissan Quest, parked in the parking lot, through a slightly rolled down window. Stolen was the vehicle registration.
