There were 22 Part I felony crimes reported in Cerritos this past reporting period, resulting in a decrease of one from the previous week. The following is a breakdown of crimes by category: one robbery, two aggravated assaults, four residential burglaries, one commercial/other structure burglary, four grand thefts, five vehicle thefts, and five vehicle burglaries. Cerritos Station deputies made three felony arrests, eight misdemeanor arrests, four warrant arrests, and issued 79 citations. The Sheriff’s dispatch center also received a total of 360 calls for service.
Robbery:
11000 block of South Street (10/05 – Morning): As the victim was removing money from the safe, the suspect entered the location wearing a mask and carrying a gun. The suspect saw the money and demanded it along with the money from the register. The suspect obtained the money and fled to an awaiting vehicle being driven by a second female suspect.
Aggravated Assault:
12200 block of Artesia Boulevard (10/08 – Morning): The victim pulled into the parking lot wearing a clown mask when he was confronted by a group of men for wearing the mask. The victim removed the mask. The suspect grabbed a golf club from his vehicle and approached the victim who was still sitting in his vehicle. The suspect jabbed the golf club through the window, striking the victim in the face. The victim was able to drive away and dial 911. The suspect fled in an unknown direction.
11500 block of Del Amo Boulevard (10/04 – Afternoon): The known suspect punched the victim in the eye while they were having a conversation during a break period.
Residential Burglary:
17200 block of Morningrain Avenue (10/09 – Unknown): The suspect(s) entered the home by shattering the rear sliding door. It is unknown if anything was stolen.
16400 block of Betty Place (10/05 – Day): The suspect(s) entered the home by shattering the rear sliding door. Stolen was cash.
17200 block of Morningrain Avenue (10/09 – Morning): The suspects attempted to enter the home by shattering the rear sliding door. Entry was not made as the homeowner scared the suspects.
18400 block of Cecelia Way (10/05 – Day): The suspect(s) entered the home by shattering the rear sliding door. Stolen were electronic devices and valuables.
Commercial/Other Structure Burglary:
11400 block of South Street (10/02-03 – Overnight): The suspect(s) entered the location by prying the front door. Nothing was found to be missing.
Grand Theft:
239 Los Cerritos Center (10/09 – Afternoon): The suspects entered the store while open for business and stole several articles of clothing. Loss prevention officers were able to recover the items.
13000 block of San Salvador Place (10/03-08 – Unknown): The known suspect stole valuables from the home when he was visiting the homeowner.
239 Los Cerritos Center (10/02-03 – Unknown): The suspect entered the store while open for business and stole several articles of clothing.
18000 block of Studebaker Road (08/08/15-Present – Unknown): The known suspect stole cash from the victim, claiming he was going to sell the victim a home.
Grand Theft Auto:
17100 block of 166th Street (10/09 – Day): The suspect(s) stole a 1984 Toyota pickup from the street in front of the location.
11500 block of South Street (10/07-08 – Overnight): The suspect(s) stole a 1998 Honda Civic from the parking lot.
239 Los Cerritos Center (10/07 – Evening): The suspect(s) stole a 1996 Nissan Sentra from the parking lot.
239 Los Cerritos Center (10/06 – Evening): The suspect(s) stole a 1998 Honda CRV from the parking lot.
12900 block of Towne Center Drive (10/04 – Morning): The suspect(s) stole a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado from the parking lot.
Vehicle Burglary:
10800 block of Alondra Boulevard (10/03-04 – Afternoon): The suspect(s) entered a Honda Civic parked in the parking lot and stole a backpack. It is unknown how entry was made.
11800 block of Del Amo Boulevard (09/29-30 – Unknown): The suspect(s) entered a 2014 Honda Accord parked in the parking lot by shattering a window. Stolen was an electronic device.
18500 block of Kamstra Avenue (09/29 – Morning): The suspect(s) entered a 2008 Infiniti G375S parked at the residence and stole a wallet. It is unknown how entry was made.
13500 block of Darvalle Street (09/26 – Morning): The suspect(s) entered a 2001 Ford F150 parked at the residence and stole personal documents and a cell charger. It is unknown how entry was made.
17900 block of Studebaker Road (09/26 – Afternoon): The suspect(s) entered a 2015 Toyota Camry parked in the parking lot by shattering a window. Stolen was a purse.

Master bedrooms are a burglar’s first target!
Most burglars target your master bedroom first. For many, it is the only room in the house they need to go to. The master bedroom is, more likely than not, the room in which homeowners feel the most comfortable and at peace so, chances are, a majority of their most prized possessions and valuables can be located in the master bedroom.
