Cerritos Weekly Crime Summary February 1 – 7, 2016


There were 27 Part I felony crimes reported in Cerritos this past reporting period, resulting in an increase of two from the previous week. The following is a breakdown of crimes by category: one aggravated assault, four residential burglaries, two commercial/other structure burglaries, five grand thefts, ten vehicle burglaries, and five vehicle thefts. Cerritos Station deputies made seven felony arrests, eleven misdemeanor arrests, two warrant arrests, and issued 130 citations. The Sheriff’s Dispatch Center also received a total of 378 calls for service.

Aggravated Assault:

 10900 block of Alondra Boulevard (02/06 – Afternoon): A male suspect stole merchandise from a large hardware store. When the male suspect attempted to flee, he was detained by loss prevention officers. At that time, the male suspect’s female associate approached and assaulted the loss prevention officers with a Taser device. The male suspect and his female associate were detained and arrested.

 Residential Burglary:

 12200 block of Creekwood Avenue (02/05 – Evening): The suspect(s) entered the home by shattering the rear sliding door. Nothing appeared to be missing.

16300 block of Elmont Street (02/01 – Evening): The suspect(s) entered the home by shattering the rear sliding door. Nothing appeared to be missing.

16400 block of Myra Lane (02/07 – Early Morning): The suspect(s) entered the attached garage of the home by using the garage remote which was located in an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway. A vase was stolen. No entry was made into the home.

16900 block of Cederwood Court (02/03 – Unknown): The suspect(s) entered the attached garage of the home via an unlocked side garage door. A bicycle was stolen. No entry was made into the home.

Commercial/Other Structure Burglary:

 10800 block of Artesia Boulevard (02/04-05 – Overnight): The suspect(s) entered the location by prying open the front door. Tools and U.S. currency were stolen.

16900 block of Judy Way (02/04– Morning): The suspect(s) entered the detached garage of the location via a garage door that had been left open. An electronic device, toolbox, and compressor were stolen.

Grand Theft:

 500 Los Cerritos Center (02/02 – Afternoon): The suspect stole several articles of clothing. Store loss prevention officers detained the suspect and recovered the property. The suspect was arrested.

300 Los Cerritos Center (02/03 – Afternoon): The suspect stole several pairs of sunglasses from a display rack.

252 Los Cerritos Center (02/04 – Afternoon): The suspect(s) stole several articles of clothing from a display shelf.

342 Los Cerritos Center (02/03 – Morning): The suspect(s) stole several articles of clothing from various display tables.

17300 block of Edwards Road (01/25-29 – Unknown): The suspect(s) entered the victim’s business, stole several checks, and cashed one for several thousand dollars.

Vehicle Burglary:

 12700 block of Moore Street (02/03 – Day): The suspect(s) entered a 2001 Ford Expedition by shattering a window. The stereo system was stolen.

11100 block of 183rd Street (02/06 – Afternoon): The suspect(s) entered a 2002 Honda Accord by shattering a window. A purse was stolen.

13700 block of Park Street (02/04-05 – Overnight): The suspect(s) entered a 2010 GMC Yukon and stole wheel locks, watches, and an electronic device. It is unknown how entry was made.

11200 block of 183rd Street (02/02 – Evening): The suspect(s) entered a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban and ransacked the interior. It is unknown how entry was made or if anything was stolen.

13100 block of Alondra Boulevard (01/29-02/01 – Unknown): The suspect(s) entered a 2000 Ford F450 by punching in the key lock on one of the doors. A tool battery and battery charger were stolen.

13100 block of Alondra Boulevard (01/30-02/01 – Unknown): The suspect(s) entered a 2000 Ford F450 by cutting the security bar off of the trailer doors. Various tools were stolen.

12400 block of Destino Street (02/02-03 – Overnight): The suspect(s) entered a 1999 Volvo V70T5 and stole an electronic device. It is unknown how entry was made.

13600 block of Park Street (02/05 – Evening): The suspect(s) entered a Honda and stole a purse. It is unknown how entry was made.

17800 block of Palo Verde Avenue (02/06-07 – Overnight): The suspect(s) entered a 2014 Nissan Altima by shattering a window. Nothing appeared to be stolen.

19700 block of Nancy Circle (02/06 – Morning): The suspect(s) entered a 2013 Chevrolet Impala by shattering a window. Nothing appeared to be stolen.

 Grand Theft Auto:

 11400 block of South Street (02/06 – Afternoon): The suspect(s) stole a 1994 Nissan Sentra from the parking lot.

12700 block of Towne Center Drive (02/04 – Evening): The suspect(s) stole a 1996 Honda Civic from the parking lot.

100 Los Cerritos Center (02/07 – Unknown): The suspect(s) stole a PT Cruiser from the parking lot.

13300 block of South Street (02/06 – Evening): The suspect(s) stole a 1995 Honda Accord from the parking lot.

13400 block of Village Drive (02/06 – Unknown): The suspect(s) attempted to steal a 2001 Honda CRV parked near the residence.
