Optimist and Soroptimist Needy Family Project a Huge Success

The Cerritos Optimist Club and Soroptimist International of Artesia-Cerritos completed their annual Needy Family delivery to 32 local families.

Three toys and stockings filled with goodies were provided to each of 101 children and over 5,000 pounds of food and sundries were provided to each family.  Co chairs, Ray and Kathy Lovell lead the successful effort with the help of over 70 Optimist and Soroptimist Club Members.  They were assisted by friends and family, Octagon students, LaFiell employees, and other volunteers.

“This was an gigantic effort that took 300 hours to complete with over one hundred volunteers and resulted in many needy families helped”, said Kathy Lovell.   “The volunteer delivery teams reported on the many children that squealed with delight and the many grateful parents”, said Ray Lovell.
