WHITTIER (CNS) – The coroner’s office today released the name of a man who was fatally struck by a big rig on the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway in Whittier after crashing his car.
The motorist was identified as Norwalk resident Dong Hyun Kim, 34, said coroner’s investigator Joyce Kato. The fatality occurred in the northbound lanes near Whittier Boulevard at 5:19 a. m. Friday, according to CHP Officer Tony Polizzi.
Kim’s car went over the side of the freeway. He made it out of the vehicle and climbed back up the embankment to the freeway, where he was struck by the big rig truck, according to the CHP.
