Cerritos Crime Report March 9-15

There were eighteen Part I felony crimes reported in Cerritos this reporting period, an increase of two from the previous week. The following is a breakdown of crimes by category: one robbery; five residential burglaries; one commercial/other burglary; five vehicle burglaries; two grand thefts; and four auto thefts. Deputies made eight felony arrests, ten misdemeanor arrests, four warrant arrests, and issued 151 citations. The Sheriff’s dispatch center also received a total of 298 calls, an increase from the 2015 weekly average of 244.

 

Robbery:

 

10900 block Alondra Blvd (03/14): Suspect entered the store, walked up to some display shelves and placed several items in the front of his pants then exited the store without attempting to pay. Suspect was then stopped outside of the store by loss prevention officers where the suspect became enraged and punched the store loss prevention officer on his head. The physical assault elevated the property crime to a robbery. The suspect was detained and arrested.

 

Residential Burglary:

 

16200 block Indian Creek Rd (03/12): Suspect(s) shattered a kitchen window, then entered and ransacked the residence. The loss is undetermined at this time.

16500 block Langfield Ave (03/12): Suspect(s) pried open a kitchen window, entered the home and ransacked the dwelling.

17100 block Pires Ave (03/09): Suspect(s) entered a garage that had been left open overnight. Several tools were stolen out of the garage.

18800 block Jeffrey Ave (attempt: 03/12): Suspect shattered a bedroom window; however, the suspect did not make entry because the residents made it known that they were inside the home. The suspect fled the area. No property loss.

17000 block Leal Ave (03/11): Suspect(s) shattered a rear sliding door and made entry into the home after first ringing the doorbell and receiving no response. Once the suspects discovered that the homeowners were inside the house, they fled and were subsequently arrested by deputies. No loss.

 

Other Structure Burglary:

 

12400 block Rancho Vista Dr (03/09): Suspect(s) entered the detached garage of a home by unknown means and stole a men’s wallet, which was inside an unlocked vehicle parked in the garage.

 

Grand Theft:

 

11300 block South St (03/08): Suspect stole a women’s wedding ring from the restaurant restroom after the ring was placed on the sink and inadvertently left unattended.

11500 block South St (03/14): Suspect broke a glass case containing several iPads then place the iPads in his jacket before running out the store without attempting to pay for the items. Suspect ran through the parking lot and out of view.

 

Grand Theft Auto:

 

12800 block Towne Center Dr (03/09): Suspect(s) stole a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe parked in the shopping center parking lot. Not yet recovered.

17700 block Parkvalle Pl (03/10): Suspect(s) stole a 2001 Mercedes CL4 from the driveway; the vehicle was recovered stripped in San Bernardino.

20200 block Avenida Pamplona (03/14-15): Suspect(s) stole a 1999 Honda Accord from the driveway. Vehicle not yet recovered.

18300 block Studebaker Rd (03/09-11): Suspect(s) stole a 2014 Volkswagen Beetle from a dealership. Vehicle was recovered in Los Angeles in unknown condition.

 

Vehicle Burglary:

 

12700 block Center Court Dr (03/08-09): Suspect(s) pried open a window of a 2009 Chevrolet Suburban and stole the vehicle’s 3rd row seat.

12200 block Glen Creek Road (03/13-15): Suspect(s) shattered the window of a 2002 Honda Accord and stole several CD’s.

12200 block Glen Creek Road (03/09-10): Suspect(s) pried open a window of a 2007 GMC Yukon and stole the vehicle’s 3rd row seat along with a backpack that had been left inside.

12200 block Glen Creek Road (03/13-14): Suspect(s) pried open the rear hatch window of a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe and stole the vehicle’s 3rd row seat.

12200 block Glen Creek Road (03/11): Suspect(s) entered a 1995 Honda Civic, through unknown means, and stole a backpack and iPad left inside.
