The Commerce Community News endorses Candidate Hugo Argumedo and Councilwoman Denise Robles for Commerce City Council.

The Commerce Community News is going on its second year of publication. The current City Council, minus Councilwoman Denise Robles, has been completely incompetent and corrupt.

Twice, three of the councilmembers, Baca Del Rio, Leon, and Altamirano, have been seen at Steven’s Steak House on a non-meeting night dining together, which is a violation of the Brown Act.

They are blatant and arrogant, and they need to be stopped.

Change is needed. That is why the Commerce Community News is endorsing Argumedo and Robles.

Argumedo proved himself a great and caring councilman in the past, and will do the same if elected.

And Robles, given how her hands are always tied, has done a great job of fighting the good fight against the four others, who only seem to want to cater to Steve Craig and his Citadel Outlet Mall.

Their vision on issues critical to Commerce, from public safety to infrastructure repairs, is what Commerce needs to move forward.

You will be able to trust both of them to represent Commerce residents and bring in new businesses, additional jobs, and additional revenues to city coffers.

Their actions in that respect will raise your property values in the city and generate even more revenues.

Argumedo and Robles will seek out business partnerships and grant opportunities to bring new revenue streams into the city.

They will meet with the current business base and mend fences cut down by the current four council members.

They are both fiscally responsible and will manage the city budget and departments, change the culture of the city administration, and get the most out of city employees.

Instead of intimidating and firing employees deemed to be troublemakers by the other four current council-members.

They will not cater to the Citadel and will fight for every city dollar given to the Outlet Mall, and spend the money on items that benefit all Commerce residents.

George Bernard Shaw once said, “Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.”

Baca Del Rio, Leon, and Altamirano will never change their minds, so it is time to start changing, and a good start is electing Hugo Argumedo and Denise Robles for Commerce City Council.
