A 59-year old La Palma man was killed on Thursday afternoon after the motorcycle he was driving southbound along Bloomfield Avenue in Cerritos went apparently out of control and crashing into a landscaped center median.

According to Sgt. Vargas, of the Cerritos Sheriff’s Department, the incident took place at 3:15 p.m. in front of a Target Department Store .

Vargas said the man died at the scene and that no other vehicles were involved.  The name of the victim has not been released to members of the public or media.  Representatives from the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office arrived at the scene and removed the body.

Traffic along Bloomfield was diverted into the Target parking lot for a few hours as Deputies conducted their investigation.

motor4As soon as the name of the victim is made public, Hews Media Group-Community Newspaper will be updating this post.

Thanks for following my lead Randy, too bad it led to a fatality. Sad news for 90703, second death in the same area this month.

Many MVA in this area, between this Target and the Regional Park. Lots of congestion, hi volume of park users, plus the overgrown diameter of Horticulture and casted shadows, makes navigation up/down Bloomfield; very risky @ times. Feel the city has some responsibility in maintaining meridian horticulture in order for safe mode/public safety for pedestrians and motorists.

Remember decades ago: 60’s-70, entire family died in RR-vs- MVA, in the same area, when the RR was active. If my memory is correct, driving 60’s Chevrolet Wagon.

To bad the Cerritos Community Safety Committee, which meets 6x yr is not broadcasted to educate the public.
