Cerritos Girls Softball Association all-stars were recently picked for the upcoming 2014 summer season that could stretch as late as the beginning of August. This summer, there will only be three teams as the 14-Under age group will not field an all-star team.
In addition, confirmed tournaments were announced with the first one coming the weekend of May 23-26 when the teams will participate in the San Dieguito Memorial Day Tournament. The following weekend, the teams will play in the South Huntington Beach Tournament.
The Chino Hills Tournament (June 13-15) and the Amateur Softball Association ‘B’ District Tournament (June 20-22) are the other confirmed tournaments. There is a possibility that one, two or all three teams will pick up another tournament the weekend of June 6-8. In addition, teams have an opportunity to advance to the ASA ‘B’ state tournament the first weekend of July if they are among the top four teams (top two for 8-Under) from their age group in the district tournament.
8-UNDER ALL-STARS
Alyssa Aguilar, Bella Bulthuis, Marley Cortez, Amarie Encarnacion, Ashley McCart, Alea Medina, Alexis Montez, Natalie Sanchez, Danica Stavale, Lily Roth, Makayla Vanosse and Madison Wright. The manager is Brian Bulthuis and his coaching staff is David Aguilar, Anthony Medina, George Molina, Greg Roth, Jonny Shaffer and Jeff Vanosse. The team moms are Carlene Aguilar and Erica Shaffer.
10-UNDER ALL-STARS
Chelsea Azevedo, Maya Cisneros, Paola Enciso, Piper Garcia, Erin Gibbs, Sarah Gutierrez, Azalea Herrera, Samiya Jones, Elizabeth Lara, Adriana Portillo, Kristalyn Romulo and Makayla Sur. The manager is Pom Garcia and his coaching staff is Deja Davis, Mark Garcia, Rich Garcia, Damon Jones and Ray Portillo. The team moms are Julie Gutierrez, Edna Lara, Jackie Romulo and Teresa Sur.
12-UNDER ALL-STARS
Caitlyn Azevedo, Brooklyn Bedolla, Gemma Bulthuis, Brenda Duran, Julie Enzmann, Essence Gibbs, Valerie Joaquin, Natalie Luna, Dalia Morones, Destiny Ramos, Haylee Ridge and Kara Spoolstra. The manager is Sal Bedolla and his coaching staff is Gabe Azevedo, Edgar Cervantes, Benito Joaquin, Steve Morones and Mike Spoolstra. The team moms are Ana Azevedo, Laurie Marek and Monica Martinez.
