Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe presented the 2014 State of the County on Thursday, February 13, at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts. It was filled with “the good, the bad and the ugly” as well as Knabe’s own bucket list for his final term in office.
Just a few of this year’s accomplishments that were highlighted in his speech included, Orange Grove Park, the Safe Surrender Campaign, the I-5 improvement projects, the Governor George Deukmejian Courthouse, and the 4th district park improvements.
Knabe also talked about some of the issues the county faces, such as overcrowded prisons that have overflowed into local cities and the hard reality of child sex trafficking.
“I want a war on human trafficking,” Knabe announced, as he laid out some of his plans for targeting these issues.
The district supervisor then discussed some of his other “bucket list” items, some of which have already been achieved.
Knabe now has his own public affairs television show, called, “Dialed-In with Don Knabe,” which he said highlights some of the good things that are going on in the district. Knabe also plans to continue to work on the county health care options, put $45 million towards district libraries and expand his work with free golf camps into a Junior Golf Academy.
