‘Bat Kid’ Miles Scott Saves San Francisco Thanks to ‘Make a Wish’

By Brian Hews

SAN FRANCISCO —  Bat Kid has saved San Francisco.

Tiny Miles Scott, age 5, had his “lifelong” dream come true on Friday thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Miles is in remission from leukemia, and, because of the charity group, the city by the bay became “Gotham City” on Friday in a “fantasy” that became “reality.”

Tens of thousands of San Franciscans responded to an avalanche of social media blasts, lining the streets wherever Miles and a full-sized Batman swooped into action.

There was a damsel in distress to rescue, a burgled bank vault to save, and even the pesky Riddler met Bat Kid’s mighty swing at AT&T Park.

San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee got into the action and help transform his enclave into the mythical “Gotham City.”

The “Make A Wish” Foundation was over loaded with support and donations on Friday and the charity posted this comment on their homepage:

“We are humbled and incredibly overwhelmed by the outpouring of support received in response to Miles’ larger-than-life, superhero wish in San Francisco.”

“Due to the drastic increase in Web traffic, and perhaps because of a few troublesome villains, we apologize for the difficulties experienced in accessing our site.”

“We appreciate your continued support and encourage you to learn more about Make-A-Wish® and how you can help us grant more wishes.”
