Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District has a new school board member in educator Sean Regan.

Regan, who teaches Government at Cal High School in Whittier was elected in Tuesday’s election that also saw the reelection of incumbents Margarita Rios, Daryl Adams, and Ana Valencia.

Longtime incumbent Ed Hengler lost his bid for another term and will be replaced by the upstart Regan.

“We need Board members with experience in public schools,” Regan told voters throughout the campaign.

“Whittier’s district does a great job of getting results from teachers, while honoring our service and dedication to the students in every classroom and on every campus.  NLMUSD teachers have also increased test scores lately, but this district must work harder to improve staff morale, which directly impacts the quality of the learning environment in every classroom,” Regan told voters in campaign materials over the past several weeks.
