Officials at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department issued a statement on Friday hoping to get information about a wanted suspect in the Lakewood area who has been responsible for robbing a local gas station.

The statement read as follows:

“On September 7, 2013, at approximately 1:15 PM, a 23 year old female employee of the Chevron gas station, located at 4910 Lakewood Boulevard in the city of Lakewood, encountered the suspect while working at the register. The suspect waited in a long line. When it was his turn at the register, he asked the employee for a $1.41 Swisher Sweet cigar. The suspect handed the employee a one dollar bill. When she told the suspect he needed an additional .41 cents, he protested and threatened her. The suspect then tried to grab the cigar out of the employee’s hand, but she was able to pull her hand away before he grabbed it from her. Fearing the suspect would try and grab the cigar again, she secured it under the counter. She then told the suspect he needed to leave the store, at which time the suspect leaned over the front counter and hit the woman in the face with his right hand. As a result of the attack, the woman suffered a severe injury. The suspect is described as a male black 35-45 years, 6’0”-6’4”, 215-225lbs, short black hair, with a slight mustache and beard.”
