Melvin Cortez Identified as Shooting Victim at El Rodeo Night Club Killing; Suspect Sebastian Zazueta Arrested

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation of a shooting death of one man and the injury to another at the “El Rodeo” nightclub in the 8800 block of Washington Boulevard, Pico Rivera, at approximately 2:40 AM on the morning of Sunday, September 22, 2013.

The victims of the shooting which occurred on Sunday morning have been identified as Melvin Cortez MH/37 and Angel Guillen MH/26.

Mr. Cortez was working as a valet at the location when he was shot and killed by the suspect. Mr. Guillen was working as a security guard at the location when he was shot and wounded by the suspect.

The suspect has been identified as Sebastian Zazueta MH/21, from Oxnard. He has been booked for murder with a one million dollar bail.

Four other individuals who were with the suspect, two women and two males, were also detained, but were released when it was determined they had no involvement in the murder.
