(Pico Rivera) Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation of a shooting death of one man and the injury to another at the “El Rodeo” nightclub in the 8800 block of Washington Boulevard, Pico Rivera, at approximately 2:40 AM on the morning of Sunday, September 22, 2013.

Detectives have learned that deputies responded to the location in response to a shooting victim at the location. When they arrived they discovered two male adults had been struck by gunfire, one a security guard at the location, the other a valet driver at the location. Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to treat the injured and transported each to local hospitals. Later in the morning, the valet victim succumbed to his injuries. The security guard is listed in stable condition.

According to witnesses, the shooting suspect was a patron of the club and had caused a disturbance earlier in the evening. Security personnel escorted him out of the building and the suspect left the location, but later returned with four associates. They attempted to gain entry into the club, but were denied by security personnel. At that point, the shooting suspect reportedly went to a vehicle, retrieved a handgun, returned and shot the two victims.

The shooting suspect then ran from the location with security guards in chase. Shortly thereafter; deputies arrived and became involved in a brief foot pursuit before taking the fleeing suspect into custody without further incident.

Other responding deputies detained the four remaining suspects (two male, two females), in the parking lot of the club. The handgun believed to be used in the shooting was also recovered in the parking lot of the club.

All five suspects are currently being questioned by detectives. The investigation is active and on-going.
