Los Cerritos Community News won Best Investigative Series at LA Press Club Awards Sunday night. The event was held at the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles. Publisher Brian Hews was thrilled to win the award, “We worked very hard on this series, we are very grateful and feel blessed to win this prestigious award, thanks to all who helped us out and thank you LA Press Club.” The event honored Carl Reiner, NBC Channel Four’s Fred Roggin received the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Robert Kovacik won Journalist of the Year.

You folks have done great work but there is more to do to clean up the Assessor’s Dept. I have seen very little reform,in any and this department needs a wholesale going over in depth. I say this based on experience!!
Incidentally, what is the date of Noguez’trial and where will it be held?

According to a recent interview we conducted with investigators inside the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, this case is still evolving. We have been told that several more arrests will be taking place, and Assessor Noguez will be beginning “Pre Trial” later this Summer. We will be keeping on top of EVERY DETAIL of this criminal case, since it was our publication that did the “heavy” lifting in putting all the pieces together. We agree, the Los Angeles County Assessor’s Office has done little to “reform.” As a matter of fact, John Noguez is STILL in charge of the Assessor’s office, and that is a staggering outrage if you stop and think about this entire situation.
