Miss Utah’s Meltdown Goes Viral On Internet

Miss Connecticut Erin Brady is the new Miss USA.

But Sunday night’s pageant will be remembered for Miss Utah, and for all the wrong reasons.

Marissa Powell, 21, of Salt Lake City, a stunning brunette, bombed the intense live interview portion of the competition, and her flub up has become an internet sensation.

Celebrity judge NeNe Leakes asked Powell her thoughts on the fact that women still earn less than men in our society.

“I think we can relate this back to education and how we are continuing to try to strive to,” she said, pausing, knowingly, that this wasn’t going well, before she flashed a smile and continued, “figure out how to create jobs right now. That is the biggest problem, and I think especially the men are seen as the leaders of this, and so we need to try to figure out how to create education better so that we can solve this problem. Thank you.”

No worries, Powell nearly walked off with the title.

She ended up taking third runner-up.

Remember Miss South Carolina Teen Caitlin Upton during the Q&A portion of the 2007 Miss Teen USA competition when she was asked why many Americans can’t find the USA on a map.
