California State Senator Ronald Calderon emerged from being in seclusion for the past week in Sacramento on Monday after his office was raided by members of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Calderon told reporters in Sacramento on Monday afternoon that: “My family and I have gone through a lot the last several days. It’s been very stressful, very hard on all of us. We’re all anxious to put this behind us and carry on a normal life.”

“My intention at this point is to do my job that I was elected to do, attend my hearings, get my bills passed out of committee to the floor, and do the work of the state,” he said.

The only reference he made public about the FBI investigation in his brief remarks were “I have a lot of my own questions that aren’t answered yet.”

In the meantime, State Senator Kevin DeLeon a Democrat from Los Angeles confirmed that he has been given a subpoena to appear before a Federal Grand Jury as the wide ranging probe continues to expand.  It is not known if DeLeon is a target in the probe.

A source with a key State Senator who did not want to be identified told Los Cerritos Community Newspaper that “several elected officials in Sacramento as well as many staff members have been approached by the Feds over this investigation.”

“Everyone is walking around on pins and needles, just waiting for the this place to be totally shut down and raided,” the source told LCCN.
