It was total horror for a Cerritos based running club who happened to be caught in the middle of the deadly and bloody bombing at the Boston Marathon on Monday.

A group of marathon enthusiasts from the “Cerritos Easy Runners Club” have all been accounted for and many of them witnessed the horrific bombing that took place at the end of the famed Boston race on Monday.

James Kang, a spokesman for the Cerritos Easy Runners told Los Cerritos Community Newspaper that as many as 10 members of his club were participating in the race and all of them were near the conclusion of the race when two bombs exploded.

The Easy Runners is the largest Korean-American running club in the country and is located in Cerritos, and several other members reside in other communities throughout Southern California.  Kang said the group has more than 100 local runners who participate.

Hettie Chang, a reporter with NBC LA reported that Grace Kim, a member of the Easy Runners Club had just crossed the finish line with the explosion took place.

Kim told Chang that she “heard an explosion and didn’t know what it was.”

“It sounded louder than fireworks,” Kim told NBC LA in an interview on Monday night.

At least two people were killed and more than 130 others were injured.

Kang also pointed out the current Cerritos Councilman Joseph Cho is an active member of the Easy Runners, but Cho did not participate in Monday’s event.
