A Sheriff’s Special Weapons Team (SWAT) responded to the 17900 block of Redwood Avenue regarding a suspect who barricaded himself inside his residence after attacking his neighbor on the morning of Saturday, April 6, 2013.
Detectives have learned that at approximately 1:30 AM, suspect Brandon St. Mark, a 31 year-old Bellflower resident, knocked on his neighbor’s door and when the victim opened the door suspect St. Mark stabbed the 78 year-old male victim with a knife numerous times before returning back to his own residence. When responding deputies arrived, suspect St. Mark refused to comply with orders to exit his home.
The victim was treated for his non-life threatening injuries at a local hospital.
After a nearly six hour standoff, the suspect was taken into custody and booked at Lakewood Sheriff’s Station for attempted murder and is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail. The motive for the attack is unknown.
