“Kevin is the only candidate capable of creating real pension reform for the City of Los Angeles,” said former mayor Richard Riordan. “His complete independence from the special interest groups at City Hall will allow Kevin to establish real change for L.A. I am confident in Kevin’s abilities to turn this city around and lead us toward prosperity just like we did when I was elected Mayor. I strongly encourage my fellow Angelenos to support him in his candidacy for mayor.”

Richard Riordan was the 39th Mayor of Los Angeles from 1993-2001, and later served as the California Secretary of Education from 2003-2005. As Mayor of Los Angeles, Riordan championed the growth of the neighborhood councils and instituted mayoral term limits. After his tenure as Mayor, he advocated for leadership changes and policy reforms at the Los Angeles Unified School District through The Riordan Foundation, that’s mission is ‘to provide students, especially those in low-income communities, with access to a high-quality education that will prepare them to compete successfully in the 21st Century.’

“I am honored to have the trust and support of Mayor Richard Riordan,” said mayoral candidate Kevin James. “Los Angeles is a city in crisis. We have a jobs crisis, a budget crisis, an infrastructure crisis, an education crisis, a corruption crisis, a transportation crisis, and a communication crisis; in total we have a leadership crisis. I am the independent candidate in this race and I will be the new leader that will put L.A. back on track.”
