New Free Clinic to hold Open House in Artesia on Friday

Lestonnac Free Clinic, H.O.P.E. Artesia, Joy of Sharing Foundation and UnitedHealth care are hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of Lestonnac’s latest free clinic that will serve the communities of Artesia, Cerritos and Hawaiian Gardens.

The event will take place on Friday, February 1, from Noon to 5 p.m. with the main ceremony to begin at 1 p.m.

The address of the Lestonnac Frees Clinic is at 11423 187th Street in Artesia.

Organizers tell Los Cerritos Community Newspaper that the celebration will also include an open house and free medical clinic for the public featuring medical and ophthalmology care.  Also planning to attend the event are several local elected officials and dignitaries.

In addition Ed Gerber, Executive Director, Lestonnac Free Clinic will be in attendance as is Kenneth Sall, M.D., Medical Director of H.O.P.E. Artesia; Nitin Shah, M.D., Joy of Sharing Foundation and Brandon Cuevas, CEO, UnitedHealthcare of California.

Lestonnac provides critical health care services to underserved residents of Orange and Riverside counties.

Lestonnac operates nonprofit clinics in Los Alamitos, Stanton, Tustin and Riverside has treated nearly 20,000 patients in the past three years alone. Lestonnac also operates a mobile clinic in Riverside County and the Artesia clinic will be its fifth location.

Lestonnac Free Clinic, founded by Sister Marie Therese in 1979, is devoted to providing free, comprehensive medical care to the poorest of the poor in Orange County, California, as well as dental care to our currently established patients.  Lestonnac is a nonprofit, primarily volunteer organization working with local physicians and local hospitals to meet the health care needs of low and no-income families in our community.

Health Opportunities Provided for Everyone Artesia (H.O.P.E. Artesia) is an ophthalmology nonprofit 501 (c) (3) clinic located in here in the community that is dedicated to preserving the eyesight of indigent and medically uninsured patients in the Los Angeles and Orange County communities.  Their objective is to identify, screen, educate, and treat individuals that are at risk of losing their eyesight due to cataract, glaucoma, or diabetes.

The mission of Joy of Sharing Foundation is to do humanitarian activities world over. The foundation is led by Nitin Shah, M.D., B.U. Patel, and Hemlata Parekh, M.D., and created to help underprivileged people in different parts of the world. Support for Lestonnac’s Free Clinic in Artesia is their first project.

The final participant of the new clinic, UnitedHealthcare is dedicated to helping people nationwide live healthier lives by simplifying the health care experience, meeting consumer health and wellness needs, and sustaining trusted relationships with care providers.
