Cerritos Sheriff’s Station Deputies Arrest Burglary Suspects

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies from the Cerritos Sheriff’s Station/Community Safety Center recently arrested two suspects in a residential burglary incident.
La Mirada Crime Report
On October 5, Cerritos Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to a call reporting a residential burglary in progress at the caller’s neighbor’s house. The alert neighbor stated that three males were burglarizing her neighbor’s home and observed that one of the males was leaving in a vehicle. Arriving officers saw the vehicle flee the area and suddenly stop. The driver, who was the sole occupant, ran from the vehicle. A containment of the location was initiated with the assistance of the Sky Knight helicopter, and the suspect, a 19-year-old Hawthorne resident, was quickly located by a search team and arrested.
Simultaneously, additional officers contained the home and confirmed that a residential burglary had occurred at the location, but the other two suspects had fled on foot. A second suspect, a 21-year-old Hawthorne resident, was found walking nearby and was arrested. The third suspect was not found. A follow-up investigation by Cerritos Sheriff’s Station detectives is underway.
Cerritos residents are encouraged to observe the activities in their neighborhood and report any suspicious activity to the Cerritos Sheriff’s Station by calling (562) 860-0044. To report an emergency or a crime in progress, residents should call 911. More crime prevention tips are available on the City’s Safer Cerritos website at safercerritos.com.
