Southeast cities to celebrate ‘National Night Out’ this week

Area communities will be taking part in the Annual National Night Out this week with several activities being planned.
Here is a list of what participants can expect in Bellflower, Artesia, Cerritos, La Palma, Hawaiian Gardens, Norwalk, La Mirada and Pico Rivera.

City of Bellflower
The City of Bellflower, in conjunction with employees from the Bellflower Public Safety Department and the Los Angeles County Fire Department, will celebrate the City’s Annual National Night Out on Tues, August 7, 2012, starting at 5:00 p.m. by participating in a Procession/Walk beginning at the Bellflower Sub-Station (16600 Civic Center Drive, Bellflower). Sheriff’s deputies, firefighters, City staff, Neighborhood Watch Volunteers and City Council members will proceed in an assortment of radio cars, fire trucks, and city vehicles, to several pre-scheduled block parties throughout Bellflower. At each stop, all personnel will distribute commemorative gifts and literature on crime prevention and safety. They will also participate in photo opportunities with the block residents. City of Hawaiian Gardens
The City of Hawaiian Gardens, in conjunction with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the Los Angeles County Fire Department, will celebrate National Night Out on Tues, August 7, 2012, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. by hosting the 4th Annual “Community Peace March.” The March will start at the Hawaiian Gardens City Hall (21815 Pioneer Boulevard) and end at the Public Safety Center (11940 Carson Street, Hawaiian Gardens). This event will include free food, music, games, kid’s activities (including inflatable bounce-houses and face painting), public safety demonstrations and the distribution of public safety and emergency preparedness material. Cerritos
The City of Cerritos, in conjunction with “Concerts in the Park” will celebrate National Night Out on Thursday, August 9, 2012, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Heritage Park (18600 Bloomfield Avenue, Cerritos). In addition, Sheriff’s Department personnel will present crime prevention, safety, Disaster Preparedness and Homeland Security information. “Operation Kid Print” will be available for parents wanting to maintain a fingerprint card on their children. Norwalk
Norwalk Station will be celebrating National Night Out on Tues, August 7, 2012, starting at 5:00 p.m. by organizing a Community March and Rally against Crime and BBQ for residents of the Unincorporated County area of South Whittier at Mayberry Park (13201 E. Meyer Road, Whittier). At the BBQ, there will be presentations made by local officials, entertainment, live dancers, music, a raffle and giveaways from local businesses. This event will also include display booths from numerous public safety agencies as well as the Whittier Community Advisory Committee. City of La Mirada
The City of La Mirada in conjunction with “Concert in the Park” will be hosting their National Night Out on Thursday, August 9, 2012, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at La Mirada Park (1301 Adelfa Drive, La Mirada). This event will include food, music, games, kid’s activities, public safety demonstrations and the distribution of public safety and emergency preparedness material. Pico Rivera
Pico Rivera Station will celebrate National Night Out on Tues, August 7, 2012, starting at 6:00 p.m. by hosting a Community BBQ/party at the Pico Rivera Sheriff’s Station (6631 Passons Boulevard, Pico Rivera).
