The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office has raided the home of Los Angeles County Assessor John Noguez and at 11 other locations this morning in regards to a massive corruption probe.

Los Cerritos Community Newspaper can confirm that one of the locations served with warrants this morning was the West Office of the Los Angeles County Assessor’s Office.

“We had seven or eight people from the DA’s office here today,” an unnamed source at the location who works for the Assessor told LCCN.  The source, who did not want to be named publicly, said “it’s about time this happened.”

Jane Robison, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney told LCCN that officers began serving the search warrants “early Wednesday morning.”

“We can confirm that warrants have been served at 12 different locations, including at the home of Assessor Noguez,” Robison said.

She would not elaborate on details about the raid other that “the investigation is still ongoing, and as of right now it is not going beyond search warrants.”

The Los Angeles Times this morning said that among the locations being searched were the assessor’s downtown L.A. headquarters, offices throughout the county and the Phoenix home of businessman Ramin Salari, a close friend and campaign contributor to Noguez who has secured large tax reductions for residential and commercial property owners.

Los Cerritos Community Newspaper was the first media outlet to report the investigation, and has been publishing dozens of news items about the situation since February.
